A New World

Thursday, March 5th - Saturday, March 28th 2015

Carolyn Gilligan and Joanne Thorne Arnold

Sky
Winter Tree
In Arnold’s new exhibit, titled ‘Sky’, the continual wonder of sunsets, the threatening power of thunderheads and the quiet of twilight are captured in “contemplative, atmospheric oil paintings that depict the wonder of looking up in awe at the vastness of skies from the Gulf of Mexico to our own local area.”

In New Media, New World, Gilligan, a traditional water colorist, will be showing exciting experiments with a new medium called Yupo which according to Gilligan “provides a very slippery surface which does not absorb paint but which produces bright, vibrant color.” She will also be exhibiting new collages inspired by the work of her fellow gallery member and mentor, Ada Stallman.
