Jean Luongo
Jean Luongo was born in Brooklyn, New York.
She received her MFA in 1984 from Pratt Institute.
While at Pratt, received a Max Weber Scholarship and five assistantships. One of five painters chosen to participate in "The Fourth Annual Symposium: Changing Values in Art, Public and Private" with Douglas Davis, Robert Pincus, Irving Sandler, Mary Boone and Barbara Goldsmith. At Pratt she studied with Ricard Bove, George McNeil and Calvin Alberts.
Before attending Pratt, Jean studied at the Art Students League, New York University and the School of Visual Arts where she received her BFA in 1981.
Ms. Luongo has been in group shows at The Woodstock School of Art, The Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, The Center for the Arts in Dutchess County, The Hudson Center Galleries, Ward-Nasse Gallery in NYC, The Germanow Art Gallery in Rochester, NY, Women's Art Gallery in NYC, Jeanie Tengelson Gallery on Long Island, The Northport Art Coalition, the Climate Gallery, The Watermill Museum and the Islip Museum of Art.
From 1986 until present, Jean has concentrated on commissioned work and is included in private collections. One of her pieces is represented in "At home with Art" by Estelle Ellis, Caroline Seebohm and Christopher Simon Sykes, published by Clarkson Potter in 1999. Jean has designed and art directed publications including Plastics Technology, Screw Magazine, RallyingPoint, Rock Magazine, Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine, and, most recently, Newsweek International.
