Workshop – Oil and Cold Wax Technique – Day 2

This workshop will give anyone interested in working with cold wax and oils the opportunity to experiment with the medium and learn some techniques for step by step building history in your paintings using layers, tools, and other additives to enrich the surface.

Time - 1:00 to 3:30 each day

Materials List
- Oil Paint – A variety of colors including Black and white, transparent and opaque, cool and warm, neutrals, favorite colors
- Cold Wax – I will provide for this workshop (I use Gamblin’s),
- Substrate – I will provide 2 sheets of oil painting paper – 8” X 10”, If you have multimedia paper that would be good for messing around with but not necessary,
- Brayer or brayers, one would be enough
- Squeegee or squeegees – silicone scrapers – old credit cards
- Odorless Mineral Spirits (I use Gamsol)
- Palette – I use glass, or smooth silicone, (I will have disposable ones for you to use if needed)
- Palette knife or spatula - for mixing and applying paint and creating texture
- Roll of paper towels and/or rags
- Assorted materials for creating texture and marks, combs, scrapers, bamboo skewers, mesh rubber stamps cheesecloth etc. You get the idea
Suggested:
- Oil sticks and/or wax crayons (such as, Caran D’Ache Neocolor) I will bring some to experiment with,
- I will also bring other incidental materials for your use.
